Where
do I begin?
We recommend your first Pilates session be a private one. This will
introduce you to Pilates, give you an idea of where your body is in
terms of strengths and weaknesses, and allow you to formulate personal
goals. Once you have taken your first private session, you will be
more comfortable with the language and philosophy of Pilates.
Can I start off by taking pilates mat classes?
Yes. You can start by taking a Pilates mat class, as long as you do
not have any major injuries. For those who have significant injuries,
or are pregnant, you should take a private session.
Do I have to pre-pay or can I drop-in?
We recommend you pre-pay to ensure a spot in group class. Drop-ins
are also welcome, as long as the class is not full. Payment in advance
is required for any Trio reformer class, as well as any semi-private,
or private lessons. A 24-hour notice is required for cancellation.
What should I wear?
Comfortable, form fitting exercise clothes are best. Oversized clothes
make it difficult for the instructor to observe your body during the
workout. Shoes will be left at the door. Socks are optional.
Do I need to bring a mat?
No. Mats will be provided. Our mats are cleaned daily, and are extra
cushiony. You are welcome to bring your own mat if you choose.
How many times a week should I do Pilates?
Two to three times a week is good. This can be any combination of
private, group mat, group ball, reformer, or stretch classes. You
will be pleasantly surprised on how well you feel and look after only
a few weeks if you are consistent.
When should I arrive for class?
Try to arrive 15 minutes early for your first lesson. There will be
a short form to fill out so we can better help you. After the first
lesson, 5-10 minutes prior to class will be early enough to get settled
in.
Should I eat before class?
It is highly recommended that you eat at least 2 hours prior to class.
Pilates is performed best on an empty stomach. Eating protein during
the day is encouraged.
Help create Peace of Mind
Please turn off your cell phone and / or beeper when you arrive.
Focus on yourself and feel confident
Try not to compare yourself with other students. Pilates is a personal
growth experience, designed to recreate your approach to exercise
and movement for your individual body and lifestyle. All bodies will
increase their flexibility and build strength at their own pace. Be
patient with yourself.
